This kit almost never existed. No, this kit almost wasn't even thought of. You see, we were supposed to be launching a kit for another curated collection, Golden Hour, right about now. We've got all the fabrics for that one too, except for the background. This has been the story lately, waiting on a single fabric to complete a kit, yet unable to get it because suppliers are sold out.
So, we needed a kit that we could actually sell now. We pulled out our trusty design board and came up with several options, but Terracotta Thyme was the clear winner. It's easy to see why! It's both stunning and cozy. And it made to accompany our favourite pattern, possibly ever, Then Came June's Granny Cabin.
The Terracotta Thyme Collection
The collection consists of the above mentioned kit as well as a fat quarter bundle and a half yard bundle. Each Terracotta Thyme bundle includes 10 fabrics, one each of the colours in the Quilt Kit (except the background fabric).
Beginner-friendly Kit
Did I mention this is the 5th quilt top we've made with Granny Cabin? I think Terracotta Thyme is the 3rd quilt kit we've designed around it! Why? It's so much fun. It's easy, it goes together like a dream with nested seams and all. It's rated beginner but it's just as fun for experienced quilters. The Terracotta Thyme quilt top took less than 3 days to complete. Yes, we were pushing to get it done, but you get the idea. It's not a tedious pattern.
Reminder: Changes to Quilt Kits
You'll notice now that our 'quilt kits' are called fabric kits. We've made this change to emphasize that we no longer include patterns by default.
Why have we stopped including patterns? There's actually a few reasons.
1. Several of our kits are using patterns that have been used in previous kits. Granny Cabin, for example, we used in this Denim Florals kit just last year. Our upcoming Horizon is a Triangle Fade (the same pattern used for Berry Harvest).
2. Customers often have purchased a digital copy of the pattern from the pattern designer and we've had a growing number of requests to purchase the kit sans pattern.
