Gifts for Quilters

They say it's the thought that counts. And nothing counts more than a gift that says "I know you". I know because I've been on the receiving end of such special gifts. One year my sister and mother bought me a vintage Singer oil can. If you know me, you know I love vintage and I have several vintage Singers. Having a beautiful oil can to go with my collection was perfect. It's my hope with this gift guide that you'll find that something special for your quilty friends!

Wood Needle Cases

What quilter or sewist doesn't have an assortment of hand needles lying around? These gorgeous needle cases are the perfect receptacle for keeping needles findable and safe.

Tulip needles are no ordinary needles. These Hiroshima needles are renowned for their excellent quality. That's great, but it's not the only reason they've made it onto this list. Tulip needles come packaged in these beautiful little boxes that look as though they should be hanging from a Christmas tree! And within these gorgeous little boxes, you'll find a vile of lovely, sharp needles!

Weeks Dye Works hands down makes some of the most beautiful pearl cotton thread I've seen. Their process involves hand over-dying which results in the most delightful and subtle variations that cannot be achieved without hand-dying!

Now, needles and thread hardly seam like a gift. Maybe a luxury wood needle case, yes, but I know you think I'm crazy for suggesting you give needles and thread for Christmas. But hear me out...You combine a luxury needle case with some high-end needles and a few of skeins of top-notch quilting thread and suddenly you've got a lovely little bundle that's the perfect gift for the hand quilter.

Needle Minders

These needle minders are as useful as they are pretty. They are perfect for hand quilters, cross stitchers, or embroiderers. The needle minder attaches to the project with a strong magnet. You then place your needles on the pretty side where the magnet prevents them from falling or getting lost! Needle minders would make great stocking stuffers, but could also be gifted on their own.

Washi Tape

This may sound odd, but Washi tape is a stable in our sewing room. My sister uses it to mark her ruler for repetitive cuts. It's also great at repairing FPP Paper after you've had to unpick a seam or two. I use it on my older sewing machines to mark special seam allowances (like a scant ¼"). I love it for this because it's not permanent and won't make a sticky mess of the sewing machine.

So if you are filling a stocking for a quilter, be sure to add a roll of this oh-so-cute and practical (if somewhat unexpected) sewing supply!

Quilty Puzzles

Puzzles are a great holiday gift because they can be done by the whole family! We've spent many holidays all puzzling and chatting.

When you think about it, quilting is a bit like puzzling. You have all these little pieces that have got to fit together just so to make a whole! I guess that's why so many quilters like puzzles!

All of these puzzles feature quilts...the crinkle of a well-loved vintage quilt, this sentimental one called Grandma's quilt, and the bright 'appliquéd' flowers of Lori Holt's Prim.

The Gift of Choice

Sometimes, the only thing a person wants is a shopping spree. With our digital gift cards, you can give your favourite quilter that gift! Gift cards are especially great for new quilters because they tend to have a lot of setup expenses.

Gift cards are available in denominations from $10 CAD to $100 CAD. Send it Christmas morning to the recipient's email or send it to your own email so you can print it off and place it in a greeting card.

Wrapping Your Gifts

Whether you're in the market for a gift to give a fellow quilter or you've made a beautiful quilt to give someone else, we've got greeting cards, gift tags, and wrapping paper!

Choose from customizable Christmas cards (you can write your own message on these and stick the scratch-off sticker on top) or greeting cards made by a quilter for quilters.

With gift tags, we have printable ones (designed by yours truly) that are sewing/quilting themed. We've also got these really cute Christmas sets with little gold chains. These would be great for attaching to a homemade gift bag.

Christmas kraft paper, I mean what's not to love with this paper that feels very primitive and yet modern at the same time! You know, brown paper packages tied up with string...😊 For a more sophisticated look, there's the botanical navy and gold set. This one is great because if you have leftovers, you can use it for birthdays and no one will be the wiser!
