Knitted Star Quilt Kit

Meet our frosty, new quilt kit, the North Wind Knitted Star Quilt Kit! The colours were inspired by forests of snow-covered evergreens and snow-capped mountains off in the distance!

On that note, I beg you to keep that pretty, snowy scene in mind when you look at these photos and completely ignore the background! The grass is still so green! 😮 It doesn't look like November in the photos. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to take more photos of the quilt once it starts snowing!

The plan with the North Wind quilt kit and bundles was to have something that was wintery enough to be used from November to February, or whenever you put away your winter decor. You know, something that would look good with your Christmas decor but would still look good in January when all the Christmas decor is put away. Assuming it is put away by January! 😉

The North Wind Fabrics

The fabrics used in the North Wind Knitted Star quilt kit were pulled from our new bundle, also called North Wind. The bundles feature 13 colours, whereas the kit only requires 8 colours for the stars and 1 for the cornerstones. The background fabric is a frosty, greyish white that really brings out those wintery tones in the stars. For our sample quilt, we used Wintertale Star Block in Pine by Katarina Roccella for the backing fabric. It's so cute!

The Knitted Star Pattern

The Knitted Star Pattern is by Lo and Behold Stitchery. Like all of her patterns, it is thorough and well-written. The pattern is intermediate, and while it was a bit of a challenge, once I got the sewing machine set just right for the seam allowance, it went together, seamlessly.😆 Pun intended. Obviously, there are in fact seams. No fabric glue was used in the making of this quilt. Ok, moving on now. I should not be allowed anywhere near a keyboard. Now, we're actually moving on.

What's Included In The Quilt Kit:

All of the fabrics needed for the quilt top

✅ Fabric for the binding

✅ Printed copy of Knitted Star by Lo and Behold Stitchery

In closing, I'll give you a few tips for success:

01. Seam allowance is so crucial for this project. Test your seam allowance before you start or make a test block with scraps before you cut into your good fabric. Because there are so many seams, if the seam allowance is off even a little it can throw off the whole block.

02. It is absolutely necessary to pin at almost every step in this quilt. If you don’t usually pin when piecing your quilts I highly recommend you start now. You will love the finished results!

How about you? Will you be sewing up one of these wintery delights?
