I was recently contacted by Rent.com about Easy DIY Gift Ideas for an article they were writing on the subject. As I'd recently designed a Christmas coaster pattern, I kinda had quilted coasters on the brain. So my contribution to the article was a suggestion to use up your fabric scraps and make quilted coasters! In light of that, I thought it'd be fun to share 3 free quilted coaster patterns from around the internet including the afore mentioned one by me.

Scrappy Coasters by Lo and Behold

These Scrappy Coasters by Lo and Behold Stitchery are a favourite around here. My sister has made several sets of coasters using this pattern. This is such a fun way to use up oddly shaped scraps and these coasters go together quickly!

Excuse the pinholes. I use my coaster as a pincushion!

Quilted Petal Coasters by Ellis and Higgs

I recently stumbled upon these Quilted Petal coasters by Ellis and Higgs, and they are gorgeous! Most quilted coasters I've seen are square but these ones are round, which is a nice change. I've not made these yet, but I have added them to my 'to make' list!

Christmas Tree Quilted Coaster

These Christmas Tree coasters are great for anyone who loves Foundation Paper Piecing! For an optional upgrade, the pattern includes two different embroidery templates that you can use to decorate your tree! Virginia's Tree FPP Coaster Pattern by moi.

This one doesn't have any embroidery because I thought the fabric was decorative enough.

What do you think? Will you be making coasters any time soon?
